The aluminum railing has been installed around the back porch. It is taller than normal, but also much safer. I can lower the wood handrail to the next horizontal aluminum rail later if there's any issue. The gutters are also installed.
Before wood handrail:
With handrail installed:
I've made a loft ladder by cannibalizing a foldable attic ladder. I removed the ladder from the door frame and hinge assembly, added 2x4x10 oak boards for decoration and strength. I'll add pictures of it installed later. I was too tired to get some pictures when finished. The oak boards had to be hand chiseled to avoid the ladder's carriage bolts and washers so it could sit flush. There's probably a tool for that, but it was fairly easy to do.
Gutter installation ( a little humid that morning):
Garage ceiling installed. The wires are for the 3 fluorescent lights, and the receptacle is for the garage door opener. One more room, then paint white and trim...
Connected the downspouts to collection pipes that run under the rear driveway. A water collection and irrigation system can be added later.
